What to Expect

What to Wear
You will find a wide variety of attire at Advent–from shorts and sandals, to business casual attire. We invite you to be comfortable and to come as you are.
What about Kids?
We invite parents of children ages 6 months to 4 years to bring their children to the nursery, where they will be greeted by a caregiver or volunteer. Please provide an extra diaper, a snack, and a drink as needed. Let the nursery workers know about any allergies. Children ages 5 through 3rd grade are invited to join their parents in the service and will have a Children's Worship service during the sermon. For all kids who are in the service, we will have coloring pages available.
When Does the Service End?
The service lasts an hour and fifteen minutes. We recommend that you arrive ten minutes early so you can grab some coffee, get situated, and find a seat.

OUR WORSHIP

Our goal as we gather together each week for worship is to behold Jesus.  By singing songs--new and old--confessing sin, reading the Bible, praying, hearing God's word preached, and celebrating communion with God at the Lord’s Table, we participate in the means of grace Jesus has given to us. The sermon, which is always grounded in the Scriptures, runs approximately 30 minutes. Every service ends with a reminder that God sends us back out into the world to embody and extend God's grace.

Our Liturgy
The Church is blessed to have a rich tradition of worship. At Advent we want to participate in what the Church has been doing throughout the centuries and across the world as a reminder that we are a part of a global family of God. We draw on that tradition in order that our worship on Sundays might shape our hearts, our minds, and our bodies so that we might better embrace, embody, and extend God's grace in Jesus. If you'd like to familiarize yourself with the liturgy before joining us, you can find past bulletins on the "SERMONS" page.
