Who We Are

At Advent Houston we love kids, and we recognize the importance of discipling them from the earliest age. Similar to Paul’s desire he expressed in his first letter to the Corinthians, we want to deliver to them as of first importance what we have also received: the good news of Jesus Christ as it is seen throughout the Scriptures.

Our hope is to teach our children God’s truth, in His love, for His glory.
  • God’s Truth – We are called to extend to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the LORD, and his might, and the wonders that he has done (Psalm 78:4).
  • In His Love – We desire to love kids and build relationships with them founded on Jesus. Our prayer is that as they begin to know God, they would embrace God’s love for them.
  • For His Glory – As our kids get to know the truth of who God is, we pray they would embody it in their lives as an act of worship, extending God’s  grace to others as they grow.
We recognize that families are the primary spiritual influence in a child’s life, and that most discipling happens within the home.  We are here to support parents and caregivers as you intentionally engage and shepherd your kids. We also love to know how we can be praying for you.

Sundays With Advent Houston Kids

We welcome children ages six months to four years to join our nursery and preschool rooms.  After checking in, they will be greeted and loved on by a caregiver or volunteer. Preschoolers will enjoy their own lesson, music, and activities.

  • Please provide: an extra diaper, change of clothes, and water as needed.
  • Let a volunteer know of any allergies.

Children in 1st-5th grade (our Adventurers) are invited to check in with children’s ministry upon arrival to receive a name tag. They will then join in the service with their parents; before the sermon, the Adventurers will follow a caregiver or volunteer out of the sanctuary for a Children’s Worship service, which includes a lesson, craft, and activity. For all kids who are in the service, we will have coloring pages available.

Of course, children of all ages are welcome to remain in the sanctuary for the entirety of the service if parents prefer. Please note that no food or drinks are allowed in the sanctuary, so if your child needs a snack, please step out to the foyer. Help us be respectful guests of our borrowed space!

All caregivers and volunteers have passed a background check.

Serving with Advent Houston Kids

We are called to tell the coming generation the glorious deeds of the LORD, and his might, and the wonders that he has done (Psalm 78:4). What a privilege we have to plant and cultivate seeds of faith in our youngest generation! We invite our community to join us in caring for our children, confident that you will leave filled up as you get to experience the faith of a child and the joy of sharing His Word with the coming generation.

For those who choose to serve in our Children’s ministry, our hope is that you would commit to serve at least once each quarter. For all members of the Advent community, we hope that you, too, will serve in the Children’s ministry at least once a year. Come experience the joy and faith-building that comes from serving in our Children’s ministry!
