Taylor grew up in Houston, Texas in a family of doctors. Taylor met his wife, Julianna, at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and they were married in 2006. After working for Reformed University Fellowship at Davidson College in North Carolina, they moved to Austin, Texas. While there, Julianna completed a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature at the University of Texas, and Taylor worked for All Saints Presbyterian Church and then Redeemer Seminary, where he completed his M.Div. They moved back to Houston with their children in 2015 when Taylor accepted a call as an Assistant Pastor at Christ the King Presbyterian Church. Taylor and Julianna have been praying about this call to plant a church that ministers to the medical, academic, and neighborhood communities of the Texas Medical Center. The first meeting of Advent Houston was in August 2021.
