Forming Young Hearts in God's Truth

At Advent Houston we love kids, and we recognize the importance of discipling them from the earliest age. Similar to Paul’s desire he expressed in his first letter to the Corinthians, we want to deliver to them as of first importance what we have also received: the good news of Jesus Christ as it is seen throughout the Scriptures.

Our hope is to teach our children God’s truth, in His love, for His glory.

  • God’s Truth – We are called to extend to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the LORD, and his might, and the wonders that he has done (Psalm 78:4).
  • In His Love – We desire to love kids and build relationships with them founded on Jesus. Our prayer is that as they begin to know God, they would embrace God’s love for them.
  • For His Glory – As our kids get to know the truth of who God is, we pray they would embody it in their lives as an act of worship, extending God’s grace to others as they grow.

We recognize that families are the primary spiritual influence in a child’s life, and that most discipling happens within the home. We are here to support parents and caregivers as you intentionally engage and shepherd your kids. We also love to know how we can be praying for you.

Explorers (Nursery & Preschool)

We welcome children ages six months old through preschool (our Explorers) to join our nursery and preschool rooms. After checking in, they will be greeted and loved on by a caregiver or volunteer. Preschoolers will enjoy their own lesson, music, and activities.

Please provide: an extra diaper, change of clothes, and water as needed. And be sure to let a volunteer know of any allergies.

Adventurers (1st-5th Grade)

Children in 1st-5th grade (our Adventurers) are invited to check in with children’s ministry upon arrival to receive a name tag. They will then join in the service with their parents; before the sermon, the Adventurers will follow a caregiver or volunteer out of the sanctuary for a Children’s Worship service, which includes a lesson, craft, and activity. Children will return to the service after the conclusion of the sermon.

Of course, children of all ages are welcome to remain in the sanctuary for the entirety of the service if parents prefer. Coloring pages are available on the welcome table for children to bring in.

All caregivers and volunteers have passed a background check.

Advent Houston Youth

Middle school and high school are formative times for our students, times when they begin to ask serious questions about God, faith, and the way the world works. We want to nurture these questions and celebrate the unique qualities and experiences of this age group!

By actively caring about and pursuing deep personal relationships with your middle and high schoolers, our student ministry team seeks to partner with families to support and encourage these youth. Please let us know if your student has an important game, performance, or school activity coming up so someone from our student ministry team can make plans to attend.

We also encourage these older students to connect with the body of Christ and grow in their faith by seeking opportunities to serve the church and our local ministry partners.

Our primary mode of connection is the every-other-week Sunday Night Youth gathering, led by staff and volunteers. This time is designed for depth, fellowship, and intentional community. It also provides a welcoming space for fellowship, fun, and building genuine relationships centered on Christ, ensuring no student walks alone.

We partner with Reformed Youth Ministry (RYM) for summer camps, providing a vital opportunity for intensive, focused spiritual growth.
